FIRST RICE - COLLECTING RICE THIS SUNDAY!

When Burmese families arrive it takes 7-12 days for them to get a steady
source of food. We'd like to assist World Relief with feeding these
families.

THIS Sunday, 10/4 we will be collecting 10 lb+ bags of rice for these
refugee families. If you have a membership, Sam's and Costco sell the
larger bags of rice at a good price. Jasmine rice tends to be popular among
the Burmese.
There will be a designated spot in the foyer for the rice. We will collect
rice on 10/4 only.

FIRST FAMILY BIKE TRIP

Friday & Saturday, October 23-24. Registrations are due by Wed, Oct. 14!
Space is limited, so don't wait!

This is an easy 17 mile downhill ride on the Creeper Trail in Damascus, VA.
It's a great trip for the whole family! It's a beautiful ride through the
countryside of Virginia!

Halfway down the trail, the group will stop for a picnic lunch!

For more information, contact Anita Brand or visit the church website!

MISSIONS NEWSLETTER

This past Sunday you received a copy of the New Missions Newsletter in your
bulletin. In order to keep the congregation informed about Missions, the
Mission Department has started a monthly newsletter. The newsletter will be
posted on First Wesleyan's website.

Here's the link http://highpoint.firstwesleyan.org/Missions.aspx. If you
don't have access to a computer, there will be copies at the welcome center.

The Missions Newsletter will come out the last week of the month.

COSTUME CARNIVAL TIME IS COMING!

CANDY!
It's that time again! The Costume Carnival will be coming up soon, and we
need LOTS and LOTS of candy! We actually ran out last year, and we don't
want that to happen again!

So, please bring in bags of candy to be handed out to all the community
children who come to the carnival! There are collection pools in the Main
Foyer!

VOLUNTEERS!
We need YOU to help out at Carnival this year! We have NEW HOURS, from
4-7pm, and we need a lot of people to help staff the games, registration,
bake cakes and cupcakes for the cake walk and more!

Please check out the sign-up board in the Main Foyer SUNDAY to sign-up to
work at a game or to bring baked goods or whatever!

Contact Sheri Jennings, 888-4507, if you have any questions!

Mondays and Tuesdays. If you can come for 1 hour or two after dropping your
child off to school, that will help us greatly. Please email the thrift
store at FWthriftstore@northstate.net or call 886-8716.
