FWC YOUTH - Parents Update March '10

Parents, It’s great to finally see some sunshine today isn’t it?! I can’t wait for Spring! WOULD YOU JOIN US IN PRAYER?FWC faces a very important decision in the immediate future – the hiring of a new Worship Pastor. This position is crucial for many reasons, and will not be one that will be made lightly. I’d like to ask you to continue to pray for wisdom, guidance, and discernment as Pastor Rick works through potential candidates to fill this position! EVENTSRemember, events are a great way for your student to connect to other students, and to our awesome Youth Staff! We have a few events coming up over the next few weeks that you should be aware of, and will hopefully encourage your teenager to be a part of! See the list below, with detailed information about each one. MARCH 5th – FIRST FRIDAY (Seniors Only)If you have a senior in high school or up, please encourage them to join us at the WCA Fine Arts Building this Friday night at 7pm! The service will include worship from the Jeff Johnson Band from TX.Cost: Bring a can of food with you when you come to be donated to a local food bank.Time: 7pm-8pmFor more information about First Friday, check out www.firstfridayHP.com! MARCH 6th – LIVE IT OUT WORK PROJECTWe’re meeting at the Pregnancy Care Center in High Point to help with clearing an area in their garden for Spring planting. This is an opportunity for our students to serve! What to Wear: Students planning to serve should wear black pants and a white shirt.Time: 4:30pm-8pm DATES TO KEEP IN MIND AS YOU LOOK AHEAD…March 16 – Quarterly Parents Meeting*One of the things we’ll be discussing at this meeting will be “sexting,” a destructive force becoming wildly popular among teenagers with text messaging capabilities. We will discuss how you as a parent can guard against this and how you might go about talking to your student about this. *NEW* April 22-25 – Junior/Senior Beach Trip – Emerald Isle, NC*NEW* May 12 – Senior Night at Wednesday Youth (Parents Invited)June 13-18 – Middle School Youth CampJune 20-25 – High School Youth Camp*Pricing and lineups for Camp to be announced. WE NEED YOUI had a conversation with a student not too long ago. While talking, this student mentioned that one of his good friends told him that people worship lots of different “forms” of God. For some people, they’re god is Allah. For some, it’s Buddha. But no matter who it was, it’s really all the same person and we all worship the same god. These are the battles our teenagers are facing. There is a direct attack upon the very foundation of our faith – the Truth of God’s Word. Please encourage your student to dive into the Word with us. It’s the basis for everything we do. And please pray that God will continue to draw students to His Word, because we know that lives will be changed through it! For those of you that would like to follow along, and discuss these passages with your students (I highly encourage it!), I’ve attached a PDF of the reading schedule from now through May. For those of you with non-Chronological Bibles, the Scripture references are listed as well. TXT UPDATESYeah, we try to be hip…and we recognize that people communicate on many different levels in our fast-paced society. Would you like to receive text message updates and reminders about what’s happening? Click here to sign up! Remember, we’re here for you. Please continue to let us know how we can pray for you, and feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email anytime. I am always available to come alongside you for support in this awesome teenage world we live in!
